My name is Kurt Schneider. I'm a husband and father, a bit of a nerd, a veteran, and a lifelong student. I enjoy firearms, and especially enjoy teaching people how to shoot and how to live with firearms.
It doesn't matter who you are, as long as you are safe and willing to learn. I don't care what color your skin is, who you love, or who you worship. All are welcome.
WHO AM I?
What is 'Life with a Gun'?
When I first received my Concealed Handgun License, I found that many of the day-to-day activities we unconsciously go through had changed. Carrying a pistol affected everything from children's hugs to trips to the bathroom. I joked at the time that there should be a manual for 'life with a gun'.
As I learned more about the potential threats that exist in our modern world, and how the simple act of being armed might have saved so many victims over the years, 'life with a gun' took on a very different meaning. I hope that others accept responsibility for their own safety, embracing 'life with a gun'.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the 'non-shooting' classes so relatively inexpensive?
Because the level of ignorance and outright false information about firearms is too high, and I'm willing to do my part to reduce it.
Also, I am confident that students will learn enough that they will trust me to help them take their next steps.
Can literally anyone take your classes?
Certain people are legally prohibited from even handling a firearm. Generally speaking, these are people who have had their rights removed, either because of a felony or domestic violence conviction, because they're under a stalking/harassing restraining order, or because of other legal entanglements. You will almost certainly know if this applies to you.
Certain other people may be inherently unsafe with a firearm. Whether this is an inherent lack of awareness of one's surroundings, or a reckless disregard for self and others, we will politely return your money and privately ask you to leave. We don't expect this to happen often, if ever, but do want to make sure our students are safe.
But aside from that, everyone is welcome.
